It’s our paper anniversary today and the husband got Playboy anno August 1975.
Funny side note: As it turns out it the playmate on the centerfold was no other than the Norwegian Lillian Muller.

Classic literature, a gift from the wife on our 1 year anniversary.

My darling wife got me the book about gnomes for Christmas, aptly titled ‘Gnomes’.

According to the New York Times:

“[The original book] sold more than a million copies and spent 56 weeks on the hardcover list before the little creatures crawled back under our collective Pet Rock. Now, an anniversary edition, published on April 1, aims to enlighten a new generation with its accounts of gnome biology (they weigh 300 grams and live an average of 400 years), gnome customs (they greet each other by rubbing noses and maintain friendly relations with rabbits), and gnome sex (which always results in twins, who live at home until age 100).”

It is wonderfully illustrated by Rien Poortvliet, the foremost reason why I love it, and contains eight removable prints from the book in an envelope in the back cover, as well as some of the artist’s sketches.  It’s a gem.

I think I’m going to upload some homemade stuff from time to time.
This one is about a year old, but I still like it. :)

Now it’s even older, but it’s winter and the outdoor ice skating thing here in mntl opens today, so good time for a reblog.

Online christmas shopping

Shopping Christmas gifts to people in Norway when we are on another continent is proving to be a challenging and increasingly funny project.

Some stores have no decent way of distinguishing user (customer) from recepient, which can be frustrating when our cards have our registered address in Canada, we want things shipped to Norway and they don’t even accept overseas addresses.

Another took the “delivery” name as user name, so while logged in we had to change user name to ship to two different people.

Take some hints from amazon guys, they get it almost right.
